Place Recognition in Forests With Urquhart Tessellations

چکیده
In this letter, we present a novel descriptor based on Urquhart tessellations derived from the position of trees in forest. We propose framework that uses these descriptors to detect previously seen observations and landmark correspondences, even with partial overlap noise. run loop closure detection experiments simulation real-world data map-merging different flights an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pine tree forest show our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches accuracy robustness.

Place Recognition with WxBS Retrieval
We present a novel visual place recognition method designed for operation in challenging conditions such as encountered in day to night or winter to summer matching. The proposed WxBS Retrieval method is novel in enriching a bag of words approach with the use of multiple detectors, descriptors with suitable visual vocabularies, view synthesis, and adaptive thresholding to compensate for large v...
متن کاملHuman Activity Recognition with Random Forests
2 This paper describes and analyzes an application of the random forests 3 machine learning technique resulting in identification of human activities. 4 The data originates from the sensors on a Samsung Galaxy S2 smart phone, 5 and underwent significant processing to transform the 6 sensor outputs into 6 a set of 561 features. Applying random forests required significant efforts in 7 parameter ...
متن کاملVisual Place Recognition with Probabilistic Vertex Voting
We propose a novel scoring concept for visual place recognition based on nearest neighbor descriptor voting and demonstrate how the algorithm naturally emerges from the problem formulation. Based on the observation that the number of votes for matching places can be evaluated using a binomial distribution model, loop closures can be detected with high precision. By casting the problem into a pr...
متن کاملPlace recognition in dynamic environments
We have developed a technique for place learning and place recognition in dynamic environments. Our technique associates evidence grids with places in the world and uses hill climbing to find the best alignment between current perceptions and learned evidence grids. We present results from five experiments performed using a real mobile robot in a real-world environment. These experiments measur...
متن کاملDifferences over discourse structure differences: a reply to Urquhart and Urquhart
Purpose – In this paper we respond to Urquhart and Urquhart’s critique of our previous work entitled “Discourse structure differences in lay and professional health communication”, published in this journal in 2012 (Vol. 68 No. 6, pp.826 – 851, doi: 10.1108/00220411211277064). Design/methodology/approach – We examine Urquhart and Urquhart’s critique and provide responses to their concerns and c...
